Sing Along at The Strand. “The Sound of Music,” the 1965 classic movie about a feisty nun attempting to tame the unruly von Trapp children, will play at The Earl Smith Strand Theatre this Saturday at 8 p.m. During the film, the lyrics to the musical numbers will appear on the screen so that the audience can sing along.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $7 for seniors, students and military members. Get there early for preshow entertainment. For more information, click here.
Sample Smyrna. Take a bite out of some of your favorite restaurants this Saturday at the Taste of Smyrna, a full day of music, entertainment and, of course, food on the city’s Village Green.
Zucca, Atkins Park, Jocks & Jills, Siracusa’s Pizza, Marietta Fish Market, Barbecue Street, Smallcakes Cupcakery and a number of your other favorite restaurants will be there serving samples ranging in price from $1 to $4. Admission is free.

Shred It with Smyrna. Do you need to securely dispose of personal documents? Keep Marietta Beautiful is offering a free document-shredding day this Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. You can bring up to 100 pounds of paper to be securely shredded.
The event takes place at the Wolfe Adult Recreation Center, located at 884 Church Street in Smyrna. For more information, call 770-431-2863.
Crunching Numbers. Join the Cobb Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, Sept. 17, as it hosts a Business University session entitled “Performance and Success with QuickBooks,” a two-hour presentation by Wendy Lerner, a certified QuickBooks Pro advisor. She will provide an introduction on how to set your company up in the program and also will explain how to enter checks and deposits, create invoices, and receive payments.
The presentation will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Chamber’s headquarters at 240 Interstate North Parkway. This event is free to attend.
