A Love Story. Oneof the greatest love stories of all time comes to the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre this weekend in the form of the Atlanta Ballet’s production of “Romeo et Juliette.” The show will feature the accompaniment of the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, which will be led by guest conductor Ari Pelto.
The first performance is this Friday at 8:00 p.m. Other performances will be on Feb. 8, 9, 13, 14 and 15. Show times and tickets are available at Ticketmaster.
Valentine’s Dance Party. The Ben Robertson Community Center in Kennesaw will be the site of a family-oriented and water-themed Valentine’s Day dance this Saturday evening. The Enchantment Under the Sea dance will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and will feature dancing, games, prizes, photo opportunities, an “all-you-care-to-eat” dinner and desserts. A pirate DJ will provide music. According to the event description, “all adults must be accompanied by a child, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.”
Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased online by clicking here. Children ages 2 and under do not need a ticket. The Ben Robertson Community Center is located at 2753 Watts Drive in Kennesaw.
Movie Screenings at The Strand. Take a trip back to old Hollywood by attending some of the screenings at The Earl Smith Strand Theatre in Marietta this weekend.
“Citizen Kane,” Orson Welles’ classic first film and one he based on the life of William Randolph Hearst, the unforgettable American newspaper publisher, will be shown at 8 p.m. on Friday.
“The Godfather,” an Academy Award-winning film from 1972 that focuses on the transfer of an organized crime ring from father to son, will be shown at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Both showings will feature live organ pre-shows at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to either show are $8 for adults and $7 for seniors, students and military members. Click here for more information regarding the shows and to purchase tickets.
The Earl Smith Strand Theatre is located on the historic Marietta Square at 117 North Park Square.
