Valentines in Vinings. Looking for a place to dine with that special someone this Friday? Social Vinings Restaurant is hosting a special Valentine’s Day dinner.
In addition to the restaurant’s regular menu, Chef Derek Larsen will prepare a few special options for the special occasion, including Fresh Blue Pointe Oysters, Chargrilled Bone-In Ribeye and Nueskes Bacon Wrapped Sea Scallops.

Pints for a Cause. Drink beer for a good cause this Saturday at Meehan’s Public House in Vinings. That’s when the restaurant will host an event benefitting the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which funds research into cures for childhood cancers.
Attendees will have the chance to raise money for the foundation by shaving their heads and by participating in the Lucky Pints game, which is a fun way to be entered to win a prize for every pint of Guinness purchased.
Meehan’s Vinings is located at 2810 Paces Ferry Road. The event will start at 11:30 a.m.

Shuck It in Smyrna. Get some relief from the wintry weather this weekend by attending the Third Annual Smyrna Oyster and Mardi Gras Festival at the Atkins Park Restaurant & Bar in Smyrna.
Saturday’s activities will include live music from Kurt Thomas, The Brandy Brothers and the Ruby Velle Trip. The doors open at 11:00 a.m., and the live music will play from 1:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Sunday’s activities will include a New Orleans-style brunch, and live performances from Dixie Duncan, the Chip Jones Band and the Jared Lanham Trio. Brunch will last from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and the live music will play from 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Both days will feature all the oysters you can eat, door prizes and a photobooth. Tickets are $15 in advance for both days and $10 per day at the door. Visit the event website for more information and to purchase tickets.
Choo Choo To The Finish Line! This Sunday, Kennesaw will be the setting for the Locomotive Half-Marathon and 5K.
Both races will begin at the Barrett Summit office park, located at 1990 Vaughn Road. The half marathon will start at 7:30 a.m., the 5K at 8 a.m.
