Theater on the Square. A new play opens on the Marietta Square this week, presented by the Marietta Players. “The Boys Next Door” provides a snapshot into the lives of four men with mental disabilities who live in a group home.
The show runs Oct. 9 though Oct. 27 on Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and on Sundays at 3 p.m. Shows take place in the former Theatre on the Square space at 11 Whitlock Avenue. To purchase advanced tickets, click here.
Media Frenzy. Whether you’re looking for new books, movies, magazines, music or even comic books, you’re in luck this weekend. The Cobb County Library and the Friends of the Library are hosting a book sale at Jim Miller Park on Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Drop in to purchase items from the library’s collection, each on sale for $2 or less. Proceeds go toward purchasing new books and other materials for the library.
Keep in mind that only cash and checks are accepted. Jim Miller Park is located at 2245 Callaway Road in Marietta.
Well-Read Felines. Who doesn’t love a good book and a sweet cat? Rescue a loving pet and pick up a new read at this Saturday’s Literary Cats Adoption Event at The Book Stop in Smyrna.
Half the Way Home, an organization that helps shelter cats get adopted, will be at the book store with a number of pets waiting to find their new homes. The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 3599 Atlanta Road.

Comedy Gold. Ready to laugh? Jimmy Fallon’s Clean Cut Comedy Tour will stop by the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m.
The late-night talk show host and former Saturday Night Live star joins guest comedians Julian McCullough, Nate Bargatze and Nick Thune for a full night of comedy.
Tickets are $42 plus applicable fees and are available through Ticketmaster or the Cobb Energy Centre box office.
