Openness and honesty are Connie Engel’s guiding principles. They have served her well and now we are excited to celebrate Connie’s 25-year anniversary at Childress Klein Properties, property management company for Atlanta Galleria Office Park.
Before joining Childress Klein, Engel worked at IBM in Minneapolis. On Aug. 25, 1986 she moved to Atlanta and began leasing space at the Galleria. Several promotions and millions of square feet leased later, she still remembers her first deal with John Crawford Sr. of Crawford Investment Counsel, currently located in 600 Galleria.
Being a woman in a male-dominated industry may seem intimidating, but Connie considers it a “blessing” and door opener. One of Connie’s fondest memories was completing a major renewal and expansion while on bed rest with her third child. Talk about multi-tasking!
The Galleria has become Connie’s second home, resulting in her Cobb County community involvement. She has served as president of Commercial Real Estate Women of Atlanta (CREW), National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) and is currently chair-elect for Kennesaw State University Foundation.
“The best part of working at the Galleria is no two days are ever the same,” Engel said. “In all these years, there has never been a moment of boredom.”
Happy Anniversary, Connie!
Interesting blog about a great success story. Not many people can say going to work everyday is not boring. Even more evident is that fact that she obviously enjoys her passion. Those who are able to live out their dream. Congrats!
