At Atlanta Galleria, we are always looking for ways to give back to our community. As families prepare for a holiday with loved ones surrounding a Thanksgiving meal, many of our Cobb neighbors must stretch their budgets, making it difficult to afford a Thanksgiving meal for their families.
The Center for Family Resources (CFR), in partnership with the Cobb County Department of Family and Children Services, is working to preserve family traditions and treasured time together by providing everything each family needs to enjoy a meal at home together. CFR has been providing Thanksgiving boxes to families in need in Cobb County for 25 years.
This year, CFR will provide 1,500 Cobb County families with everything they need to enjoy a meal at home together. Because CFR continues to see a staggering increase in requests for assistance, the 2010 effort is the largest Thanksgiving food distribution in the CFR’s history and will require more than 70,000 food items.
You can drop-off food donations Nov. 17 and18 at Jim R. Miller Park or volunteer to help distribute food boxes Nov. 19 and 20. Click here for a list of wanted items.
Looking for other ways to help? You can also sponsor a food basket or host a food drive. For more information on sponsoring Thanks for Giving 2010, contact Jennifer Cain at (770) 428-2601, ext. 242 or [email protected].
