Law firm Freeman Mathis & Gary recently knocked a hole in the ceiling and built a staircase to the next floor. The firm is one of several tenants at Atlanta Galleria that has not only renewed its lease but expanded in recent months.
Connie Engel, partner at Childress Klein, couldn’t be happier. “Tenants really recognize that being at Atlanta Galleria adds value to their businesses. We cater to really successful businesses, and being here reflects well on them.”
Engel said that in this market, keeping tenants happy—and signing renewals—is paramount. “The bottom line is that for most landlords I know, if there is something you can do, within reason, to keep a tenant, you need to do it.”
Freeman Mathis & Gary, which is in Galleria 100, is a specialty litigation law firm serving clients through its practice groups in business liability and insurance, labor and employment, construction, and commercial litigation and government law. The renovation/addition gives the firm a beautiful new conference room, more meeting rooms and additional office space.
Managing partner Ben Mathis said the firm added 10,000 square feet for a total of 40,000 square feet at Atlanta Galleria. This will allow space for more than 45 attorneys, which is what he projects the firm will have within two years.
When asked why the Atlanta Galleria is the right location for the firm, he said, “The Galleria has and continues to fit our needs in many ways. It is a highly recognized Class A facility. Our clients find our location very convenient and accessible. It also is very accessible to the airport and to other areas of the city, without many of the logistical issues our employees and clients would encounter with a midtown or downtown location. And, of course, the Galleria is located in an area with wonderful housing opportunities, excellent schools and a very well-run local government. I also would be remiss not to mention our lawyers enjoy close proximity to The Georgian Club. They are a good neighbor and a great place to meet with and entertain our clients.”
Other recent renewals at Atlanta Galleria:
• Digital Insurance renewed 32,000 square feet at Galleria 400.
• Bank of America renewed 24,000 square feet at Galleria 300.
Stay tuned! Engel has another exciting renewal/expansion to announce soon—a single-floor tenant becoming a two-floor tenant!
