At the NAIOP event earlier today, Childress Klein’s Connie Engel had the opportunity to participate in consecutive roundtable discussions about social media and the real estate landscape.
Both discussions lasted 30 minutes and Connie, with the help of Tony Wilbert of Wilbert News Strategies, talked about the importance of image and self-branding through social media.
They discussed how Childress Klein’s social media platform at Atlanta Galleria is cutting edge and positions the office park as a current and up-and-coming area. Childress Klein’s use of Facebook, Twitter and the Atlanta Galleria Now blog also position Childress Klein and Connie as thought leaders.
Highlights from the discussion:
- To be successful, you must immerse yourself in social media and have an opinion.
- Don’t throw out your marketing plan and replace it with social media; use social media to supplement your current marketing strategy.
- You have to devote time and resources to be successful; if you have a blog, you should update it at least twice a week so followers don’t lose interest.
- If you can’t do it yourself, hire someone to do it for you.
It has been fun to watch your social media strategy develop. I look forward to more owner and broker participation in the future and clearly you are leading by example.
